Senior Engineering Manager - Detection & Response

This role is based in Sydney, Australia.

Responsibilities:

• Set and deliver the strategy for the DFIR team within Detection & Response.

• Lead security engineers, ensuring clarity of direction and high performance.

• Direct the evolution of Canva’s Security Operations and incident response capabilities.

• Evaluate complex security challenges and guide the development of scalable solutions.

• Partner with stakeholders during high-severity incidents, providing clear risk framing.

Requirements:

• Significant experience leading Detection & Response or Security Operations functions.
• Proven experience leading and developing individual contributors.
• Strong executive communication skills.
• A proactive, systems-thinking mindset.
• A passion for building inclusive, high-performing teams.
