Senior Software Engineer, Full Stack , gUP Eng
Google's software engineers develop the next-generation technologies that change how billions of users connect, explore, and interact with information and one another. As a software engineer, you will work on a specific project critical to Google’s needs with opportunities to switch teams and projects as you and our fast-paced business grow and evolve. We need our engineers to be versatile, display leadership qualities and be enthusiastic to take on new problems across the full-stack as we continue to push technology forward. As a Senior Software Engineer in gUP Eng Support Engagement, you will own the technical strategy and execution for products and features that promote user engagement and self-service across gUP Scaled solutions ecosystem. You will architect and build scalable and intelligent community platforms, including the community forums and console, and associated services. You will ensure seamless, personalized, and safe interactions for users seeking help and connection. You will act as a primary technical partner for Product, User Experience (UX), and other cross-functional teams within gUP and Technical Solutions Implementation (TSI), and will lead the development of visible features that power user empowerment and community education, including gamification, blogging, and Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning (AI/ML)-motivated development like spam classification.
Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
- 5 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages.
- 3 years of experience with full stack development, across the back-end such as Java, Python, Golang, or C++ codebases, and front-end experience including JavaScript or TypeScript, HTML, CSS or equivalent.
- 1 year of experience with software design and architecture.
Preferred qualifications:
- Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or a related technical field.
- 5 years of experience with data structures and algorithms.
- 3 years of experience in designing, building, testing, and maintaining production software systems.
- 2 years of experience in a technical leadership role, guiding technical direction or mentoring engineers.
- Experience with web application development, back-end systems, and cloud technologies.
Responsibilities
- Own the technical roadmap for key areas of the gUP Communities platform. Lead the end-to-end design, development, and deployment of complex, scalable features and systems across the stack (e.g., front-end, back-end, AI/ML model integration).
- Serve as the primary engineering point of contact for Product Management, UX Design and partner teams within TSI and gUP. Lead translation of product requirements into technical designs.
- Take full ownership of the health and stability of the community platform components you develop and oversee. Maintain high standards for code quality, test coverage, system observability, operational performance.
- Drive innovation by exploring and implementing new technologies, including AI/ML to enhance user engagement and self-service capabilities.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to other engineers on the team through constructive code and design reviews. Contribute to the broader gUP Engineering community.
