Network Optical Engineer Intern

This internship is based in Menlo Park, CA and lasts twelve (12) to sixteen (16) weeks.

Compensation:

$6,688/month to $11,467/month + benefits

Responsibilities:

  • Work with Meta engineers on next-generation optical communication technology, focusing on testing optical modules and subsystems for data center applications.
  • Collaborate across teams including software, thermal, mechanical, and electrical engineering.
  • Develop test and simulation methodologies for high-speed optical technologies.
  • Create automation practices for lab testing.
  • Streamline data collection, retrieval, and analysis.
  • Characterize RF/mm-wave systems, including S-parameter and jitter measurements.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Optical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, Applied Physics, or a related field.
  • Familiarity with lab equipment such as optical spectrum analyzers and high-speed oscilloscopes.
  • Experience in Python or other programming languages like C/C++ or MATLAB.
  • Must have work authorization in the country of employment at the time of hire.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with optical communication hardware and components.
  • Experience in high-speed optical and electrical tests.
  • Experience in a distributed software development environment.
  • Experience with lab automation.
  • Intent to return to a degree program after the internship.
