Research Scientist Intern, Optical Engineering (PhD)

This internship is based in Cork, Ireland and lasts between 12 to 24 weeks.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with researchers and cross-functional partners, communicating research plans, progress, and results.
- Publish research results and contribute to research applicable to Meta product development.
- Drive innovation in AR/VR display development through advanced testing and characterization techniques.
- Work closely with the Meta Reality Labs uLED team to develop solutions for characterizing uLED devices.
- Explore and develop new techniques in areas such as Femtosecond Time-Resolved Photoluminescence (TRPL) and advanced optical testing methods.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Currently pursuing or obtaining a Ph.D. in Optical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, Material Engineering, or a related field.
- 2+ years of experience in designing and executing optical experiments and utilizing advanced optical measurement techniques.
- Familiarity with programming languages such as Python or Matlab.
- Intent to return to the degree program after the internship.
- Must obtain work authorization in the country of employment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working cross-functionally in a team environment.
- Experience with machine learning or design automation.
- Proven track record of significant results in research.
